Rachid Lazrak |

Nigel Denney from Switzerland | Signed on: Sat 12 Jun 2010 16:06:33 EEST HI Mehdi, I really enjoyed my short trip to Istanbul - I had a great (& intense) visit. An important part of it was having a comfortable "base" (i.e. your hotel) to return to each day. Thanks for your tips and I was great chatting to you. My only regret was that my visit was too short! Hope to see you again sometime, Nigel. |

erica from SOUTH AFRICA | Signed on: Mon 03 May 2010 22:21:13 EEST This must be Istanbul's best kept secret. I have to say that Ahmety Effendi Evi not only met my expectations of a fantastic Istanbul, it far exceeded all expectations and offered an experience of local realities (quaint streets, friendliness, and that true turkish delight) with an honest hospitality and global awareness..... a truely special place in Istanbul. |

Bill & Liz from USA | Signed on: Sun 13 Dec 2009 11:04:01 EET Bill and I have been reading aloud to each other this morning which immediately makes us think about you and your emphasis on reading. We have incorporated your observations on reading into our view of the world. We visited my sister in Gainesville, Florida which is the home of University of Florida. When we got on the small plane that would take us to Charlotte, North Carolina we noticed that each passenger was reading a book. We immediately said that we would have to tell you about the experience. Each time someone asks us about our trip to Turkey we begin by telling them about you and your hotel and how wonderful it was to begin and end our trip with you. I guess we'll have to start a fan club. We do appreciate every thing you did to make us aware of the infinite beauty of Istanbul. Liz This morning Liz was reading to me about Lawrence of Arabia and his exploits against the Ottoman Empire during the First World War. Before the war he had been involved in the archeological digs at an old Hittite city called Carchemish in English or Karkemis in Turkish. The place is about 30 miles southeast of Gaziantep, near the Syrian border. All this reminded us of our wonderful trip to Turkey. Just the other day we were listening to a CD called the "Highwaymen". One of the songs was entitled: "The Last Cowboy Song". We remembered your fascination with cowboys and the old west and ever since we've been trying to figure out how to get the song to you. The Christmas season is a time when I think about friends and family, especially those who have meant a lot to me. Liz and I can't thank you enough for all you did to make out visit such a memorable one. The story of how you insisted that we visit the Air Force Museum and how I found one of the planes thaty I had to brought to Turkey is one that Liz has retold about a hundred times. Thank you, again. Bill PS: Please convey all our best wishes to everybody at Ahmet Efendi Evi |

I have stayed here on a number of occasions and being so far away from home in New Zealand it's a little difficult sometimes. At Sultan Ahmet Efendi, Mehdi has always made me and my family so welcome that I class him as a friend. You can take it from me that this is a wonderful place to stay and so close to all of Istanbul's best locations. |
